This sermon is about the mystery of spiritual growth and while it points to a larger, “kingdom come” picture it is also about how we are formed as individual disciples. When the word of God is planted in our lives, God does the rest as we cooperate with the unseen and unexplainable work of the Holy Spirit. We are being formed like Jesus so that we can produce fruit and bring a harvest of righteousness. We will encourage Christ followers to take heart in the fact that they are growing, to note the little moments of sprouting and growing in faith, and to thank God for the finished work he is producing in us.
